We have installed our ArcoLinuxD with this tutorial and we have a github ready to backup our settings and scripts.
Here is another tutorial taking all the steps necessary from scratch to install ArcoLinuxD on virtual box. Setting all the parameters and installing ArcoLinuxD. Some tips about resolution as well.
Let us install ArcoLinuxD Xfce together step by step.
After logging in we type this command to get the best mirrors in our neighborhood.
Then we get a fresh sync and upgrade with this command
sudo pacman -Syyu
We have included the last command in nr. 100 so you can not forget to run it.
We get our scripts from the github
git clone https://github.com/arcolinuxd/arco-xfce
Move inside the downloaded folder and run the scripts from the smallest number to largest numbers.
We talk about the naming conventions of the scripts in the tutorial and tell you what some of the scripts do.
Zsh is skipped in this tutorial. You can run it if you want to try out zsh instead of bash.
After typing in the terminal
we end up in the graphical environment – Lightdm with Xfce in this case.
Variety is started and you will have to set its preferences.
There is a tip in there how to set your terminal the first time. You can start it later with exo-preferred-applications. We like our termite with all its themes to choose from.
Then you can run the scripts inside the folder Personal. They are required to get a full “ArcoLinux” experience. Keyboard shortcuts and thunar settings will be installed.
